John Gracie’s Christmas Tour Returns for 2018
For over 25 years, John Gracie’s
Christmas Concerts have been bringing the Holiday spirit to young and
old alike. This year is no exception. The multi-award

to deliver the Holiday classics we love to hear. His Christmas
albums have sold over 60,000 units and have been heard around the

Samantha Gracie is a fan favourite. It is a father/daughter version of
the 1949 release, Baby Its Cold Outside. Samantha will join
John in Bear River and Sydney this year. Samantha Gracie can be
seen in the Christmas TV movie, Hometown Holiday, throughout the month
of December on SuperChannel and UP TV in the United States.

we want to put the public in danger trying to get there. We are going

Max FM) Tim Hortons, Open Hearth Park, CBRM,Cape Breton Post, Sobeys,

Gracie channels legendary crooners on newest album – “Feedback”,
Dan MacDonlad, CB Post
Just before Christmas, I had a chance to catch John Gracie
doing his annual concert in Sydney’s Wentworth Park. He was backed
by a great band that made everything sound good in an outdoor show on
a damp and chilly December evening. John was also joined by his daughter
Samantha, who has developed into a great singer with a charming stage
presence.
While John did a seasonal show in the park, he also has a new recording
on the go that features the music of a pair of his musical idols Tony
Bennett and Frank Sinatra.
“Live from the Flamingo: A Bennett, Sinatra Salute” contains
11 familiar numbers that come from such great writers as Cole Porter,
Johnny Mandel, Bert Kaempfert and Johnny Mercer. These were hits from
the 40s, 50s and early 60s, the music that was played on the radio and
stages of the day, the showtunes from Broadway and the themes from popular
movies of the time.
Needless to say John handles all the vocals and his smooth voice lends
itself so well to this material. He’s a crooner with a nice relaxed
style who would have sounded so natural fronting a big band from that
era. He doesn’t have a “big” band behind him, but the
five musicians that he does have are top-notch and able to recreate the
right feel for the occasion.
Whether you lean toward “The Sunnyside of the Street” or “All
of Me,” “The Shadow of Your Smile” or “I Left
My Heart in San Francisco,” they are all there. “Live From
the Flamingo” is a great CD. If that’s your style, make sure
to pick it up since I’m sure that you’ll enjoy it.

Thank you to our sponsors and corporate table purchasers
that made last night's John Gracie's Christmas Concert in Halifax a huge
success, thanks to Rolf Bouman, Canadian Pioneer Estates/The Bouman Group,
Lite 929 (Steph, Lien, Jamie and Lisa), Casino NS, Minuteman Press and
of course the Parkinson Society Maritime Region who the show supported.
Companies who supported the show were
· Clearwater – Pat Woodworth, Colin MacDonald
· Prudential Property Specialists – Carolyn Davis Stewart
· RCS Construction – Doug Doucet
· Trade Centre Limited
· Tracey Devereaux
· Levy, Casey, Carter, MacLean
· Tour Tech East – Peter Hendrickson and Lori Laderoute
· Foxgrove Benefits – Joe MacDonald
· Judy Anne Steele
· Bio-Recovery Canada- Paul McCarthy
· Quality Concrete, Doug Brophy- donated seats to PSMR
· MICCO- Mickey MacDonald
· Roma Dingwell
· James N Horwich Incorporated
· Famous Folks- Ryan Joseph and Jay Dingwall

Happy Holidays everyone:
I can’t believe are heading into the Holiday Season- today’s

Mary's and District Fireman's Association
Juno nominated, multiple ECMA award winner, John Gracie will be live in
concert, Saturday, May 2nd, 7:30pm at St. Mary’s Academy in Sherbrooke,
NS in support of the St. Mary’s and District Fireman’s Association.
This fundraiser will help the association pay for new safety equipment.
Gracie has recently released his CD, Then Again, Recollections-songs of
a Maritime Troubadour, an album giving listeners the best of Gracie’s
11 recording projects. Gracie will feature many of these songs that evening
plus he will unveil some new songs he has recently written for a duets
project with his daughter Samantha.
Gracie looks forwards to helping out the St. Mary’s and District

supportive. I hope I can help this volunteer group raise the funds they
need,” commented Gracie.
Tickets are now available by phoning Linda Archibald at 902 833 2035 and

After releasing 10 albums and
enjoying a career of writing, recording and touring, singer/songwriter
John Gracie is bringing his audience an album that includes a collection
of favourites from each on the 20th anniversary of his recording
career. Then Again- Recollections will take the listener along on
John’s musical journey from his early writing and the influence
of the sea to his writing and recording trips to Nashville and then
back home again where his writing took a social conscience turn.
It also includes some of the favourites from his best selling Gene
MacLellan Tribute, a selection of East Coast traditional songs and
a few classics like David Clayton Thomas’s You’re the
One and the country favourite, That’s All that Matters to
Me.
Gracie was once asked by a journalist why his recordings were so
diverse, he answered by saying, “Why would anyone who loves
all music, perform only one genre of music?” The interviewer
replied, “To be successful!” Gracie was floored by this
response. He has always said that success at any cost, was hardly
success, he is happy with his decisions, he sings and writes what
he enjoys and is never bored. The journey has been an interesting
one with no regrets.
The journey continues as Gracie is currently writing for his 12th
album to be released in 2009.

Hi everyone!
I can’t believe it is November and weeks away from the Holiday
Season. We have been busy, we just got back from a super time in
Lloydminster Saskatchewan where we showcased at OSAC. We saw a ton
of old friends from touring out west and we made some great new
ones. It looks like we will be on the road next fall throughout
Saskatchewan, touring with my band members Gordon Stobbe and Greg
Simm.
Now we are getting set to start out on our Christmas Tour, my 17
year old daughter will be on tour with us and she will be joining
me on stage for our duet, the father/daughter version of Baby It's
Cold Outside.
We were thrilled with the response we got from this song last
year. We sang it in New York at the Canadian Tree Lighting which
was a blast and we got a lot of great feedback from national radio
play.
This Christmas I am also doing some charity work for the Salvation
Army- stay tuned for more details on this fundraising campaign.
We are in our new house and I am setting up my new studio to start
recording again, hopefully we will have something laid down in the
new year. I’ve been doing a lot of writing.
Hope to see you at one of our Christmas Shows, keep safe, happy
and healthy and have a very Happy Holiday Season.

Acoustic JEEP
- 2006 Nominee for Folk Album of the Year

Watch John Gracie Music Videos on the Discography
page. Check them out here!

Posted Sept 13, 2005
John Gracie Honoured to be Folk/Roots
Artist Nominee
After a difficult personal journey, multiple award-winning singer/songwriter,
John Gracie wrote the music for his folk CD, Acoustic JEEP
with many songs addressing issues of the day, including
homelessness, the futility of violence, gun control, the wrongful
imprisonment of Donald Marshall and the need to try and make the
world a better place. It is his love project and because of this,
this nomination means a great deal. Singles continue to be released
and a new video is in pre-production with a team of well-known Atlantic
Canadian filmmakers.
Thanks to James Ingram for his photography for the CD and Jason
Otis for his graphic design of the CD cover and insert. Thanks also
to all the great musicians that played on the CD (Greg Simm, Ross
Billard, Gord Stobbe, Danny Sutherland, George Christmas and Finlay
Tolliver for his guest appearance on Which Way is the Wind Blowin'
(the story of Donald Marshall). Also, thanks to Rob Steele and Kevin
Bulley for making the CD a reality and Maplenationwide for getting
it in stores across the country.
To listen to Acoustic JEEP visit www.johngracie.com
John is also honoured to be in this category with artists that he
has enjoyed working with over the years, from the earliest days
with Allie to festivals across the country with JP to the symphony
performance with Dan and most recently this summer when he shared
the stage with Jill at a Songwriter's Circle.
Thank you to all who have supported John Gracie and his music and
thank you MIANS for the nomination.

Hi Everyone: So glad its Spring! Since New Year's we have been busy
on the road. We had a great time at the International Folk
Alliance Conference in Montreal where we got to play at a variety
of showcases, met some great new people and got caught up with some
old friends. Then we were off to Festivals and Events Ontario
in Toronto and then back to Halifax. I've been writing some
new tunes and we are set to release the new single, If You Threw
it All Away from the CD, Acoustic JEEP. We are now planning the
summer touring season and we are looking forward to dates at Stanfest,
Ships Company Theatre, Pictou Lobster Carnival and CB Farmers Exhibition.
In August, we head back to my favourite spot, Trout Forest
Music Festival. Keep checking the tour date section for updates.
That's it for now, take care and leave us a message on the message
centre.
Cheers,
John Gracie

Acoustic Jeep - New Release for John Gracie
Acoustic JEEP is John Gracie’s 8th CD and he says it feels like
his first. It is an all original CD that comes after a period of
personal losses and changes in his life. The songs are filled with
emotion and without a master plan, ironically, many have taken a
slant of social conscience. Some are gritty, some are tender and
some were great discoveries like the collaboration with Fizz of
Universal Soul, a Halifax rap artist who came on board for Which
Way is the Wind Blowin’ , the story of the wrongful imprisonment
of Mi’kmaq native, Donald Marshall. George Christmas, a Mi’kmaq
from Marshall ’s hometown also joins in on this song with a native
chant that is haunting.
There is also the powerful song, NRA Anyway about incidents like
Columbine and the trouble with the folks at the NRA.
These Are the Times is a reflection of what we should do to make
the world a better place and Kiss Me is a tender song asking people
to understand why the homeless are where they are, “kiss me, see
me” one emotional line in the last verse grabs the listener, “momma’s
little baby, daddy’s pride and joy, bated breath beneath the blanket
lies the broken little boy”.
Powerful songs of love gone wrong are found in If You Threw It All
Away, Trouble’s Hangin’ Around My Door, Dance Bobbie Dance, Don’t
Go and the Kristofferson like, Send the Soldiers.
The beautiful ballad, Old Stone Well , evolved to be a song encompassing
the final moments John spent with his dying sister. Although written
years before, the song entered his mind again as he sat with her
on her last days, the reason for the song was revealed.

Scotia, it will be a good day to put the finishing touches on my
new CD. I am really happy with the way its going, it is a collection
of songs I have been writing for the last few years, a lot of them
seem to have the theme of social conscience which occured quite
by accident. There are some that people have been after me to record
for the past few years, my kids favourite is "If You Threw It All
Away" and a lot of people have picked "Send the Soldiers".
There are songs on the new CD about gun control, the homeless (Kiss
Me, we are hoping to feature a video for this song), and changing
the world for the better. The album features great musicians like
Gord Stobbe, Greg Simm, Dan Sutherland and Ross Billard and we will
also be announcing some special guest performers when the CD is
complete. We hope to have it released by late March/early April.
We are putting on some preview MP3s, take a listen.
Hope to see you over the summer, watch our tour dates section.
Take care,
John
